Russ began his music career in earnest in 2011, when he was 19 years old. At that time, he started releasing his music for free on SoundCloud. Following a DIY style of producing, recording, and mixing everything himself, Russ released 11 mixtapes and 87 singles between 2011 and 2014. This is an astounding pace. However, his debut was noteworthy, and he had a hard time getting noticed. He continued to write songs in the basement of his Atlanta home while struggling to expand his activities with a group he formed with friends called Diemon. However, the days were not going well.
Russ never gave up, uploading new music every week and making a direct connection with fans through social networking sites.
