Out of My Hands
Friday night.
A delay on the way home threw off my plans.
Still — groceries, posts — I got it all done.
An unexpected three likes on Instagram.
But TikTok? Barely moving. I felt the irritation creeping in.
Come on. If it circulates, the response will show up, right?
And just like that — the future theater opened.
Numbers climbing on TikTok. More views. More reach.
Time kept moving.
By the time I noticed, it was past midnight.
I ran out of battery and collapsed into bed.
The video I prepared and handed off to the internet —
no matter how much I will it, resent it, or hope for it —
that part is out of my hands.
Hand it over. Then get back to what I can do.
Every time I post, I seem to need the same reminder.
Between wishing and reality — there’s a space called out of my hands.
Maybe that’s the feeling worth holding onto.
Thank you for reading.
