Direct Hit
Oops.
Forgive me.
It’s just how a body works.
You people are good
at finding meaning
in pure chance.
Little by little.
Walking to the bus stop this morning, I passed under a tree.
Something fell past my face.
Hm?
I touched my head. Something on my hand.
Hm? Hm? Hm?
And then I knew.
Direct hit. Bird dropping. Right wrist.
No time to go back home.
Emergency cleanup in the bathroom at the station.
The whole time, I kept repeating to myself:
“I am absolutely not going to find meaning in this.”
Then I asked Fu to comment — from the bird’s perspective.
I found meaning in it.
Thank you for reading.
